Unwanted tattoos can not cause psychological problems, especially if they are easily visible. In the past, the removal tattoos almost always led to unacceptable skin scarring. The development of modern lasers means that tattoos can be removed safely and effectively in most cases.

Types of tattoos:

There are three main types of tattoos:

1. Decorative tattoos are performed several times by puncturing the skin with a needle saturated with color ink.

2 . Traumatic tattoos may occur if the skin along the surface of a road and small pieces of sand and carbon powder into the skin is touched.

3.Gunpowder tattoos can cause explosions if the powder penetrates the skin .

Old versus new methods of tattoo removal:

In the past, a variety of methods have been used to remove tattoos , including skin grafting , dermabrasion ( removing the upper layers of the skin) , lasers dioxide acid, de- tattoo infrared argon and carbon . These treatments scars in many cases. The development of Q -Switched lasers means tattoos can be removed safely in most cases. The Q -switched Alexandrite laser is better for eliminating the green pigment , while the Q switched Yag laser is better to remove blue / black pigments. This laser is also better for people with darker skin.

How do the new treatments work:

Q -switched lasers work by penetrating the skin and break up the tattoo pigments into smaller pieces . Macrophages are able to eliminate these smaller skin pigments. The laser feels like a rubber band snapping . It will not damage the normal skin surrounding the tattoo.
